Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we get asked most.

New: Mochilo is now available as an iPhone app (beta)

Beta via TestFlightTry the iPhone app

Mochilo is also an iPhone app, still in beta. Install Apple's free TestFlight app first, then this link opens your invite.

What is Mochilo?

Mochilo is a shared trip planner for you and your travel companions: route, stays, flights, car rentals and expenses all in one place, instead of scattered across spreadsheets, documents and separate cost-splitting apps like Splitwise. Everyone in the group sees the same up-to-date plan, can add bookings, and always knows who paid for what.

What does Mochilo cost?

During the beta phase, Mochilo is free to use. Everyone who signs up during the beta will keep using the app for free, without limitations, going forward too, with two exceptions: once the beta ends, the AI assistant becomes a paid add-on, and flight alerts become part of Premium. During the beta you can use flight alerts for free.

What are flight alerts?

If you turn them on for a trip, we let you know when something changes on your flights: a delay, a gate or a cancellation. You're asked once per trip as soon as a flight you're on has been added, and you can switch them on or off any time on the Flights tab. Each traveler decides for themselves. Delays and cancellations are also marked on the flight in the Flights tab for everyone on the trip, and if a flight may qualify for compensation under European or UK air passenger rights (from 3 hours' delay on arrival, or a cancellation), you'll find a link to the airline's claim form or the official information page there. These rights cover flights departing from the EU, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland or the UK, and flights arriving there with an airline from those countries. The app shows the hint for every flight to or from these countries without checking the airline, so for an arrival from elsewhere, check who operated it. Whether you're actually entitled depends on the cause, for example severe weather doesn't count. Flight alerts need the airline code and number (e.g. "A3 831"). During the beta they're free; afterwards they'll be part of Premium.

How does the referral program work?

On your dashboard you'll find your personal invite link. Share it yourself, for example by messenger or email; we don't send invitations on your behalf. A referral counts when the invited person signs up as a new user through your link, confirms their email address, is approved and creates at least one trip of their own. Each new account counts once, for the link it signed up through. Sign-ups with a forwarding address from a privacy service (e.g. SimpleLogin, Firefox Relay or Apple's Hide My Email) don't count. Once 8 referrals count, the AI assistant is included for you for 12 months after the beta ends, counted from the end of the beta. Fair use applies: if usage is unusually high, well beyond normal trip planning, we may limit the number of requests. You can take part until the beta ends. In cases of obvious abuse, such as second accounts you created yourself or fake sign-ups, we reserve the right not to count referrals or to withhold the reward. The reward can't be transferred or paid out in cash.

Is there an app for iPhone and Android?

Yes, the iPhone app is now available as a beta via Apple's TestFlight: install the free TestFlight app, then open our invite link (see above). It brings push notifications, for example when someone adds a cost you're part of or the day before your trip starts. The Android app is coming soon. Until then, you can add Mochilo to your home screen right from your browser, where it behaves just like a regular app, icon included.

How do I delete my account and data?

You can close your Mochilo account yourself at any time, in the browser or in the iPhone or Android app: 1. Sign in at reiselust.io/app (or in the app). 2. Open your profile (your name at the top). 3. At the bottom, tap "Close my account" and confirm. This deletes right away: your display name and legal name, profile picture, PayPal handle and bank details, nationality, notification settings, the push tokens of your devices, your calendar links, your favorites, the log of your AI requests, and every trip you were the only member of, with everything in it. Trips you shared with others keep your past bookings and expenses, shown as "Deleted user", so the balances of your co-travelers stay correct. Your email address stays in the sign-in system, locked, so nobody can sign in to the account again. If you want everything deleted, including your email address and your entries on shared trips, or you can't sign in any more, email hello@reiselust.io from your account's email address. We'll delete your data within 30 days. You don't have to close your account to delete individual data: you can delete trips, bookings, expenses and checklist items yourself at any time, and remove your profile picture, PayPal handle, bank details and nationality in your profile. For anything else, email us at the address above.
